JC Pino
JC, born in Venezuela, where he was exposed to a unique blend of cultures, races and flavors of the Caribbean, under a powerful influence from his parents. His father, a top executive of the oil industry and a nature lover with a military orientation, gave him the best education. His mother, a lady dedicated to her family and a passionate interior designer, gave him the knowledge about history of arts and styles. Both of them, supported an extensive traveling and an admiration for nature, and most important inspired him to be unique, and strive for the best.
As a boy, he remembers being seated at his desk, drawing and painting trees and horses. He thought every other child was doing the same. Later public recognition appeared when he won some contests for children that he casually found himself involved with. He showed a natural skill in painting that everyone from his family took for granted. His father had him take endless private music & sport lessons a side from his catholic school work, where he found the passion for equestrian and later lessons in business including international affairs. A formal education in painting was never part of his life so far. He had to follow his father's steps into the corporate world.
When he reached university he was the interior designer for family and friends, he enjoyed creating new environments for them. Took photography as a hobby and his family photographers he became, for the good eye in composition, as they say. He graduated as a MBA and lucky for him, with a specialization in advertising. Being very passionate about that creative side of business, he started to develop his knowledge spending endless hours in the creative department which was surrounded by creative people, colors and techniques. It was easy for him to forget that he was at work. Rewards soon came and he was able to bring new accounts to the firm and start to build a good reputation in his business circle, but life took him to the real state business where his executives duties had little to do with art. Then he found his way to become P.R. of his group, working with the corporate image. He recalled that once in his horse collection He didn't have a da-da horse. So he decided to make his own, that is how " papandreo collection" started, there were 12 different da-da horse for a total production of 120, they were sold out in two month, it was a short hobby for him. Still years passed and people kept asking for the papandreo collection. Corporate world didn't give him enough time.
His search for enjoyment took him through different stages. For instance he even to considered becoming a restaurateur, as he always enjoyed the blend of people and good food.
Accompanying one of his brothers in New York City , JC accepted the challenge to duplicate one version of Houses of Parliament by Claude Monet, as a present for his brother's birthday. This was one of his brother's lifetime personal favorite pieces at the Metropolitan Museum. So he worked for a month and a half, day and night. After all, Monsieur Monet was his favorite too. At that time he rediscovered his ever lasting passion for art and painting, became aware that time stopped when he was in front of the canvas. He was having a private conversation between cotton and colors, nothing else mattered at that moment. That was when he decided to no longer wait to be an artist with serious bases. He will pursuit his dreams. He was doing it no matter what. Like his mother always said "the future is now".
For a year he worked very hard day after day, to explore new extremes , to develop the right techniques and to find what really pleased him so he could elaborate his new path and consider it as his own personal style. When he decided it was time to publicize his work, his own family was amazed and his friends did not believe that he was the artist of those exotic women portraits. They, however, soon became the first supporters of his new journey. By the way his brother received his Monet present with an open mouth and hung it in his most valuable wall.
JC has been inspired constantly by Monet, Klimt, Modigliania and Leonardo da Vinci, making a blend of his own style , he painted 190 canvases in the first year with a preference for peaceful views and close-ups of beautiful women with ethnic flavors and the light of goddesses . In just six months since his work became public he has started to receive great attention and very warm welcomes, even from his fellow artists. Now his work seems to influence everyone who comes in contact with it. His art is admired by many people who will sometimes wait for those special requests. A brush stroke is the start of everything and the feeling to be able to create beautiful things that didn't exist yesterday. He is now working on his own, trying not to be too academic, instead he is trying to be honest to himself. Learning from the master, but giving his personal approach to the description of light that they started 100 years ago.
